Vietnam Military History Museum, formerly known as the Military Museum, is one of the best museums in Hanoi you cannot miss if you want to understand more about the history of Vietnam. Especially about the resistance war against the French and US. This is the largest number of artifacts and attracts many visitors every day. The museum becomes a cultural and historical center through unique original artifacts, an attractive place for domestic and international visitors.
The museum first opened on the occasion of the 15th anniversary of the founding of the Vietnam People Army on December 22th 1959.
This collected and displayed 150,000 historical, cultural, and military artifacts, reflecting the context of the resistance wars against invaders from the Hung Kings to Ho Chi Minh era.

The display system of the Vietnam Military History Museum includes indoor and outdoor display systems on an area of 3,200m² with 2,500 artifacts.

The museum content and covers six periods from Hung King until now, and the outdoor exhibition area was formed to complement the indoor display, giving a complete display system, creating a lively and attractive cultural space.
On the first floor of the museum, there are 3 rooms: The first room introduces the military from the Hung Kings period until Ngo Quyen defeated the Southern Han army on Bach Dang River in 938. The middle room has a statue of President Ho Chi Minh and images during the resistance war with French colonial (1858 - 1945)
The last room introduces the battles from the Ly dynasties (10th century) to the Nguyen dynasties (19th century). Many artifacts of historical value are displayed here, such as a bicycle in the Dien Bien Phu campaign 1954, MiG19 and MIG21 aircraft, and Sam 2 and Sam 3 missiles in the anti-war campaign…

Vietnam Military History Museum has welcomed more than 17 million visitors, of which about 50% are international delegations from 150 countries around the world.
