Bai Tu Long Bay: Everything You Need To Know Before Travelling

Bai Tu Long Bay occupies roughly three-quarters of Halong Bay to the Northeast. It is home to many attractions with pristine landscapes. In some ways, Bai Tu Long even seems more appealing than its internationally famous neighbor, as it is largely unspoiled and, therefore, much more peaceful.
Read on to discover all facts about Bai Tu Long Bay below with Go Viet Trip!

1. How To Get There

There are several buses departing from Hanoi to Bai Tu Long bay. In nearby cities, limousine services are also available so that you can travel to the bay quickly and comfortably. However, you still need to find a cruise to visit the bay later.
If you have already booked a Bai Tu Long cruise, the cruise company will probably have a pick-up shuttle bus for more convenience.
It is even a lot less hassle when you book a Hanoi or Halong bay tour that includes a Bai Tu Long day in the package. In that case, everything is well-planned. All you have to do is to follow the arrangements and enjoy the trip.

2. Best Time To Visit Bai Tu Long Bay

Bai Tu Long bay looks magnificent all year round, so it mainly depends on your own preferences.
If you want to marvel at the limestone towers and emerald waters glittering in the sunlight, spring (January to April) and late autumn (October to November) would be the best bet. At that time, the weather is mild with less chance of rain, leaving you plenty of time to enjoy all the fun at Bai Tu Long.
Budget-minded tourists may be interested in the period between May and September, as many cruise ships offer generous discounts on cabins. However, summer is also the peak season of local tourism, so you may find the area a bit crowded.
From July to August, Bai Tu Long bay is likely to experience periodic hurricanes and storms. These natural events only last for a few days but may cause unexpected changes and delay in your itinerary. Therefore, it is better to avoid this period of time.

3. Which One To Choose, Bai Tu Long Bay or Halong Bay?

Again, it mainly depends on your own definition of a perfect destination. I will list out the pros and cons of both places, so you can make a well-informed decision.
There is not much to talk about Halong Bay as it is already internationally famous. The bay is large and houses lots of popular tourist destinations. In addition, tourists can reach it within a short time.
But as a highly touristy destination, Halong Bay is indeed crowded and expensive.
Meanwhile, Bai Tu Long bay takes longer to visit as it is further from the mainland. But to make up for that, it is quiet with several primitive attractions. The landscapes and biodiversity are well preserved.
